Discounts and how you pay
- If you are the only adult in your home, you get 25% off. Some people are not counted as adults (for example full-time students), which can also give a discount or a full exemption.
- The bill is usually split into 10 monthly payments. You can ask your council to spread it over 12 months instead.
- If you are on a low income or get certain benefits, your council may reduce your bill through its Council Tax Reduction scheme.
- The figures here are the average for each council area including parish precepts, so your bill can be slightly higher or lower depending on your parish.
